Japan 2027 - What is it?

Japan 2027 is a 3,000 km walk of gratitude across Japan.

I will walk alone for more than four months from Cape Sata to Cape Soya, stopping in 116 cities.

But none of us really succeeds in life alone. This walk is dedicated to the people who helped us go further.

It is part of WTFT, an ongoing project about challenging assumptions and uncovering new possibilities.

Why I walk

The assumptions shaping our lives rarely sound like assumptions. They sound like facts and often limit our choices: It’s too late. I can't afford it. This is the safest option.

Sometimes, someone sees potential in us that we cannot yet see in ourselves. Their belief challenges the limits we have accepted and gives us the confidence or opportunity to discover what is possible.

This walk celebrates those people.

Celebrate people who mattered

If you have been fortunate, someone has inspired you to go beyond what you thought possible.

For me, it was my wife.
For you, it may be a parent, friend, teacher, partner or boss.

Dedicate one kilometre of Japan 2027 to them. I will walk it in their honour, and your message will become a permanent part of The People Who Saw More in Us.

Your dedication will be assigned to the next available kilometre. You can fund it yourself for €10 or use a sponsored kilometre when one is available. Every dedication receives the same place in the journey. After payment or email confirmation, you will receive the kilometre number and a personal link to the dedication. If you prefer, you can support Japan 2027 without creating a dedication.

Walk one kilometre with me

Some of our most useful personal discoveries come from a conversation, a misunderstanding, a difficult day or something so ordinary that we would have overlooked it at home.

Walking from Cape Sata to Cape Soya will give me the opportunity to explore what I can learn from Japan about work, community and fulfilment.

If I pass near your town, will you walk one kilometre with me?

Meet Franck

Hello, I’m Franck Benhamou. I left corporate life at 39, became financially independent at 45 and later adopted a nomadic life.

At 64, I walked 6,000 kilometres across Europe from Estonia to Spain. At 66, I cycled 3,200 kilometres around France. In 2027, I will walk 3,000 kilometres across Japan.

I put myself through these challenges to test my assumptions, push my limits and uncover possibilities I could not previously see. One question keeps returning: Why do intelligent people stay stuck when they know they should change?

I share what I learn so you can use what applies without paying the full cost of finding out.
